A Sneak Peek

Hi guys!

It’s funny because I get comments saying it looks like I eat a lot (even from family members) but yesterday I only ended up with 1800 cals! That’s the power of mini-meals.. it feels and looks like your eating a ton but in reality your not!

Oh, and about those progress pictures :D I’m not going to post the full body ones YET.. but I will give you some sneak peaks of one of the before pictures:

arm without flexing

I can’t wait until I add 5 more pounds of muscle to that! :D

So I slept in until 7:20 this morning! Lately I’ve been waking up at 5 or 6.. but for some reason I didn’t today. Which was nice.. but I’ve been enjoying working out at 7 when there’s nobody at the gym! So I ate a quick pre-workout breakfast which consisted of 1/2 cup Daisy 2% cottage cheese mixed with 1/4 cup 0% Fage, 1/4 cup raw oats, 1 tsp Naturally More PB, cinnamon, ginger and stevia (it sat in the refrigerator overnight):

220 calories, 23 grams of protein, 16 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fat

And then I scurried to the gym! Today was Push (chest, shoulders, triceps) and a little ab work. I did some things different today. The first number listed is my warm up weight which I did with 10 reps. Then it goes 4 reps, 6 reps, and 8 reps. Here it goes:

  • Barbell Overhead Press- 30 pounds, 60 pounds, 55 pounds, 50 pounds. Repeat.
  • Upright Row- 30 pounds, 60 pounds, 55 pounds, 50 pounds. Repeat
  • Wide Grip Bench Press- 50 pounds, 80 pounds, 75 pounds, 70 pounds. Repeat.
  • Reverse Triceps Bench Press- 40 pounds, 70 pounds, 50 pounds, 40 pounds. Repeat
  • Incline Bench Press with Palms In- 3 sets of 8 with 45 pounds
  • Decline Skull Crushers- 1 set of 8 with 30 pounds, 4 sets of 8 with 40 pounds
  • Tricep Kickbacks- 4 sets of 6 with 40 pounds
  • Cable One Arm Upright Row- 1 set of 10 with 20 pounds, 1 set of 8 with 30 pounds, 1 set of 6 with 40 pounds, Repeat
  • Hanging leg raises- 30 reps
  • Woodchoppers- 12 pounds, 2 sets of 12 on each side
  • Leg Pull Ins- 3 sets of 30
  • Reverse Crunches- 3 sets until failure
  • Decline Push Ups with legs on stability ball- 2 sets of 20
  • Hanging leg raises- 30 reps
  • Hanging oblique raises- 30 reps

450 calories burned baby! And can you imagine how much I burn afterwards while my muscles are repairing? I don’t know what the heck I was thinking only eating 1300 calories! My poor muscles!

I came home and had a quick post-workout snack. Usually I don’t eat dried fruit due to the sugar content but I’ve been reading a lot about post-workout carbs and apparently you want to cause an insulin spike so that the carbs get to your muscle quick. So I mixed up 1/2 cup Daisy 2% cottage cheese with 1/4 cup 0% Fage (slow digesting protein), 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (for fast acting protein), 1/2 scoop BSN Cinnamon Roll Protein Powder (for fast & slow proteins + MCT’s + glutamine + amino acids), 1/4 cup apple-juice sweetened dried cranberries (high GI carb) + cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla (for flavor!):

340 calories, 42 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fat

Perfect!

The rest of the morning I spent doing some work for my online courses and before I knew it my tummy and muscles were telling me it was lunch time. I had a pretty redundant meal..but I’ve been loving these simple meals lately! We bought some fresh chicken breast this time on sale (as opposed to frozen) and for some reason it tastes SO GOOD. So naturally I had some for lunch today. I cooked the 6 oz chicken breast with cinnamon, cayenne pepper, black pepper, ginger, and oregano. (Sounds like a strange combo but is really good!). Then on the side I had 1/2 of a sweet potato (3.5 oz) with 1 tsp natural peanut butter + cinnamon + ginger, plus 1 steamed summer squash with pepper:

310 calories, 38 grams of protein, 29 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fat

But that was not enough! So I had the best dessert of all time.. Protein Brownie Batter! Today’s had 1.5 servings of Biochem and 2 tsp almond butter:

210 calories, 33 grams of protein, 10 carbs, 6 grams of fat

Seriously guys. If you haven’t tried protein brownie batter you haven’t lived! haha :D

After eating I finally drug myself away from my house to go grocery shopping. I love shopping in general but for some reason I haven’t been in the mood to leave the house.. I think it’s the weather! Anyway, I went to Sunflower Market (bought some sprouted bread, Biochem that was on sale!!, butternut squash, L-Glutamine, lettuce, natural hot sauce, and cottage cheese), Albertons (bought some tea and liquid egg whites), and Smiths (yogurt for my family and cottage cheese for me!).

When I got home it was snack time! I had another of my newest obsessions.. sweet eggs! Today I cooked up 1 cup liquid egg whites with 10 drops of Capella Hot Cinnamon Candy flavor drops stevia, and cinnamon in my omelet maker. Then I topped the omelet with 2.5 oz of diced apple that I microwaved with cinnamon and 1 tbsp of chopped pecans:

215 calories, 25 grams of protein, 10 carbs, 4 grams of fat

Dinner tonight was a new recipe! I modified this cauliflower pizza recipe by using 1 cup of shredded cauliflower, 2 tbsp part-skim mozzarella, and 1 egg white. I followed the rest of the directions and it made a crust! I wasn’t feeling a regular pizza tonight so I just topped it with 4 oz lean ground turkey breast, fresh green chili, 1 Light Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge, cayenne pepper, and natural low sodium hot sauce. On the side I had steamed broccoli:

335 calories, 35 grams of protein, 6 carbs, 10 grams of fat

So I’m only at 1645 calories.. that means it’s dessert time! Who knows what it’ll be..

But before I go I just have to share this with you. It made me crack up! I have a spam folder that collects spam comments and sometimes I go through them to make sure that a legit commenter doesn’t get put in there on accident. So today I found this comment (from a spammer):

“Oh jesus you will not belief that. My mindless cat simply just farted on my arm!? I mean what’s the problem with that!? I nourish that thing and I end up with that in return. I yet can not really belief that. Anyway, you’ve got some useful info there in your article. I knew Yahoo are going to bring me to a few fascinating stuff today :) . Okay need to search for this creature now! Have a great evening you all!”

What the heck??? LOL!!

Have a great night everyone!

    1) Do you weigh your chicken raw or cooked? The nutritional stats on my chicken are for ‘raw,’ but I weigh my protein ‘cooked’ so technically I am under-counting in that area.

    2) What brand of liquid egg whites do you like best? Least?

    April Reply:

    1. I usually weigh it raw but I’ve done it before and after and it’s pretty similar in weight. So no worries!

    2. They all taste the same to me! I buy whatever is cheapest :)

Wish I could try the Cinammon Roll BSN!!! UGH, the Splenda though! Just can’t do it. I hope that more companies start using Stevia instead.
