Snack Attack

Hey guys!

Last night I snacked on a couple prunes and a Cocoa Pumpkin Bar before bed.. sorry no picture!

So yesterday afternoon my mom made some oatmeal as a snack.. I tasted it.. and I wanted it! So this morning she helped me make it the way she did.. it was awesome! First we put 2 cups of water in a saucepan with about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of fresh cranberries and brought to a boil:

Once the water boiled I smashed the cranberries, added in 1/2 cup oats and 1/2 banana:

Then I added 1/4 cup ambercup squash, cinnamon, and ginger and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Then I added 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, turned off the heat, and let sit, covered, about 5 more minutes. The result? A gigantic, delicious portion of oats!

I added a teeny bit of peanut butter (1/2 tsp) to see if it needed it but the taste was so delicious that surprisingly it didn’t.

After breakfast I worked on an essay for a few hours (thank gosh it’s done) and then did 50 minutes of hill-walking on the treadmill. (Speed between 3.0 and 4.0, incline 8%? My mom’s treadmill doesn’t tell you the incline.) I wore my new Reebok Easy Tone shoes and I felt it in my legs for sure!

For lunch we had salmon as usual. I had a big appetite so I beefed it up by mixing the salmon with steamed broccoli, cabbage, green chili, and cayenne pepper:

But my meal was lacking in carbs so I had a Squash Bar with 1 tsp of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter:

I’ve had the almond butter in my pantry for some time now and I finally opened today.. and oh my word it’s DELICIOUS! I’ve never had flavored almond butter and I was in heaven!

The rest of the afternoon was spent doing more homework and a little ab workout:

  • Weighted roll up- 15 reps with 8lbs
  • Under the bridge- 15 reps with 8lbs
  • Reverse crunch- 15 reps
  • Boat pose-crunch (I totally made up that name)- 10 reps
  • Repeat 2 more times
  • Oblique crunches- 3 sets of 10
  • Side plank with a weighted twist (8lbs)- 2 sets of 10
  • Side pulses with 8lb weight- 2 sets of 10
  • Ball pike and Ball pass- 1 set of 10 for each

And then I had a snack attack! I started out with 2/3 cup 0% Fage mixed with cinnamon, stevia, 1/2 cup partially defrosted blueberries and 1 tsp Justin’s Maple Almond Butter:

But that didn’t do the trick so I had a Snack Tortilla with another 2 tsp almond butter:

And then 1/2 cup Daisy 2% cottage cheese with NuNaturals vanilla stevia and cinnamon:

I felt hungry so I just kept eating..but when my stomach finally caught up with my mouth I was stuffed! I should have followed the 20 minute rule but I just didn’t feel like it today I guess! I was a little uncomfortable but my snacks held me over forever .. I never really got hungry for dinner! But don’t worry I still ate :) I went with a light salad consisting of organic baby spinach, 4 oz lean ground turkey breast, fresh green chili, and baby tomatoes:

And an Oatmeal Nutridel Cookie for dessert:

The cookie didn’t have as strong of an oatmeal cookie flavor as I was hoping… probably because my oatmeal cookies are normally soft! This was more cracker-like but it was filled with nuts and seeds and still tasted pretty sweet! Plus you can’t beat the nutritional stats so I’m not going to complain!

And now I’m feeling a tad hungry again.. what the heck is wrong with my stomach?? I’m going to actually do the 20 minute rule now to see.. and if not there will be more snacking!

I’ll see you all tomorrow!

Wow your mom sure knows what she’s doin with the oatmeal! :)

I’d be glad to finish my paper as well, ugh those can be a pain! And that 50 min climb on the treadmill may or may not have something to do with your hunger…I know when I do any intense cardio (speed or incline-wise) it makes me so hungry for the rest of the day!

    Have a good night!

That’s some labor intensive oatmeal lol…looks like it was worth the work though ;)

I bet your legs were screaming with all the hill walking and wearing the toning shoes. I could never stay on the treadmill for 50 minutes though, I would get sooooo bored!
