An Extra Half Makes a Difference

Hi!

Last night we watched The Proposal.. it was very funny and cute! I definitely recommend it!

This morning I woke up starving and made breakfast right away! Yesterday I went o Sunflower Market and bought a new protein powder that was on sale:

I’ve never tried the brand but chocolate fudge?? I knew I had to try it with breakfast! I made a bowl of oats:

  • 1/3 cup oatbran cooked in 3/4 cup water + 1/4 cup Unsweetened Almond Breeze
  • 1 ripe banana (half cooked in the oats, half sliced on top)
  • 1/2 serving chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tbsp Naturally More PB
  • 1 tsp chia seeds, cinnamon, ginger

It was sooo delicious! I was in love! I normally only have 1/2 a banana in my oats (sometimes too many carbs make my blood sugar crash) but boy, a whole banana really makes the oats delicious! Speaking of bananas and oats, one of the first oat mixtures I ever tried was Chocolate Covered Katie’s Banana Nut Bread Oatmeal and I was in love at first bite! Katie is having an awesome charity drive.. you can help by just clicking on that link! Plus she’s having a neat giveaway.. check it out here!

After breakfast I babysat for a few hours. The parents said they would probably be home at 1 so I packed my lunch but they ended up coming home at 11. I had to miss kickboxing today (so sad!) but I went to the gym with my sister and did my own workout:

  • 30 minutes on the StairMaster (10 minutes aerobic training, 10 minutes fat burn, 10 minutes speed intervals all at levels 10-11)
  • 20 minute treadmill workout
  • Bench press- 2 sets until failure
  • Bench lunges- 1 set of 10 on each leg with 7.5lb dumbbells (wasn’t feeling the legs today)
  • Squat/Overhead press- 2 sets of 10 with 10lb dumbbells
  • Tricep extensions- 2 sets of 10 with two 10lb dumbbells
  • Tricep press down- 2 sets of 15 with 60lbs

And then I called it a day! I didn’t realize I was sore until I started doing the strength training so I took it easy. Plus I mainly was trying to show my sister how to do some strength training! She just joined the gym and is doing really well!

When I came home I had the lunch I packed- a salad. It had:

  • Raw broccoli
  • Spinach
  • Shredded cabbage
  • Handful of roasted beets
  • 4 oz fresh, all natural deli turkey
  • 1 low-fat cheese stick (cut up)
  • Fresh green chili, homemade salsa

And then I got to work on an essay. After about 30 minutes of frustration I took a break and made squash bars! It’s actually just my Cocoa Pumpkin Bars but I used roasted ambercup squash in place of the pumpkin. While I was baking I had a snack of 1/2 cup Daisy 2% cottage cheese mixed with NuNaturals vanilla stevia, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup defrosted blueberries:

And when the bars were done I sampled one with a smear of Better’N'PB:

Uhh I don’t know why it looks green in that picture! I promise it tasted good! They had a little bit of a different texture but was still yummy!

Nothing exciting happened the rest of my afternoon except I did do a 20 minute Mari Winsor pilates video that brought back memories of when I first started working out! I used to get up early before school and do the workout. It was funny because I could talk along with the instructor.. that’s how often I used to do the video!

Dinner was simple and delicious. I also bought a new veggie burger yesterday that was on sale- a Foods for Life Moophry Burger. I topped the burger with hummus and natural hot sauce and had it along with a bunch of steamed broccoli with Braggs (I ate more than what’s pictured), and a baked sweet potato topped with 2 tsp organic pb, cinnamon, and ginger:

The burger wasn’t my favorite but it had pretty decent nutrition stats so I’m not going to complain! My dinner made me pretty stuffed but it may wear off before bed.. in which I’ll need a little dessert :)

Oh and check out my Reebok review if you haven’t!

Have a great night everyone.. I’m off to relax!

  • I’ve really got to try those bars! I’m so jealous that you got to try out those Reebok shoes! I am always so intrigued by the ads for them They seem like a “luxury” buy, so it’s probably not something I would ever buy for myself. Glad you rocked ‘em! xoxo

  • Whoa, I totally watched the Proposal last night, too!! I LOVED it! I adore both of the main characters and was cracking up the whole time. I need to put that movie on my Christmas list! ;)

  • I have yet to be able to create protein oats that don’t make me gag :( whats your secret oh wise one?!

  • I ALWAYS eat a whole banana with breakfast, they are my favorite! I have a blood sugar issue too, but I find that if you get enough protein with it (i.e. peanut butter), the blood sugar thing isn’t really a problem :)

  • mmmmm sweet potatos :)
I just roasted a pumpkin for dinner tonight :)

and a about to go rent The Proposal myself :D

    xoxo

  • How does peanut butter on a sweet potato taste?? I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time but keep talking myself out of it. If you say its good, I’ll try it tomorrow!
