Chillin' In The Rain

Hi! Can you believe it’s almost the weekend? Now that I’m in school my days fly by!

This morning I woke up to rain! Which meant I needed to change my outfit.. again. I always set out my outfit the night before but lately I’ve been waking up in a certain mood for a certain outfit. Is anyone else like that too??

The gloomy weather also made me have a strong craving for some old fashioned milky oatmeal! Normally I make my oatmeal thick but today I wanted some restaurant style oats. So that’s what I did:

  • 1/2 cup oats cooked in 1 cup water + 1/2 cup Almond Dream
  • 1 sliced banana
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (dissolved in the almond milk)
  • Cinnamon

I added the 1/2 cup Almond Milk to the oats after they were cooked and let it cook for about 1 minute- just enough to heat up! It was delicious and quite comforting!

After breakfast I headed to Psychology. I had an exam today but I finished it in 20 minutes so I was able to come home early. I started to write an essay but then my eyes started to hurt from staring at the computer so I quit. And since my breakfast lacked any fat it only held me a couple hours! So I had a nice little snack with a new peanut butter..Krema! I topped a Rudy’s spelt english muffin with 2 tsp Krema peanut butter and 1/4 tsp Wholesome sweeteners Raw Blue Agave nectar:

I really enjoyed the peanut butter! The only ingredients are peanuts so that’s a plus in my book! Somehow they were able to make it so that you don’t have to stir it which is also awesome.

Then I headed to Philosophy. And afterwards I came home and made a small lunch! I had a salad that contained:

  • Mixed greens
  • Chicken breast
  • Roasted beets
  • Jalapenos
  • Salsa

Plus three prunes dipped in Naturally More peanut butter (only 2 are pictured ’cause I went back for more!)

I have to admit.. salads just aren’t as appetizing as the weather gets colder. I’m going to have to find more ways to incorporated veggies for those chilly days!

After lunch I headed to the gym for a mid-day workout. I did a back, bicep, and tricep workout consisting of a lot of bicep curls, skull crushers, tricep kickbacks, tricep extensions, lat pull-downs, low row, and bent over row. I felt weak today- maybe it was just because I was using heavy weights! After pumpin’ some iron I did 30 minutes on the elliptical- 2 minute intervals on resistance 4, 5, 6, and 7.

And then I came home and had my favorite post workout snack.. Fage mixed with protein powder! Today’s version contained 1/2 cup Fage 0% mixed with 1 packet of Banana Spiru-tein, a couple tbsp of almond milk (there was not enough yogurt!) and a few defrosted blueberries:

It reminds me of ice cream!

Then it was off to my last class of the day- biology. We were learning on the basic cell level about carbohydrates, fats, and proteins among other things. I asked her about hydrolyzed vegetable protein and she said that it’s actually partially digested! But she also said that it’s actually easier on the body than pure soy products. So I’ll keep eating my veggie burgers :D

Which is what I had for dinner! I had a Morningstar spicy black bean burger with steamed green beans and a sweet potato topped with 2 tsp peanut butter, cinnamon, and ginger:

It was my first time trying that kind of veggie burger and it was really yummy! Not very spicy but nothing a little cayenne pepper won’t fix :)

I’m off to relax and maybe do a little homework! See you all manana!

Hey girl! Yeah I’m not digging the salads as much, since the weather is starting to get cooler. You can always make soups, and the leftovers are great! I have a picture of a soup I made out of kabocha – it was delicious. I bet you’d like a pumpkin and sweet potato soup. When they’re like a puree.. it’s even better! I like my soups to be like baby food lol. It just seems more substantial.

I love how you put protein powder in your oats too :D I’m gonna have to try dissolving it in almond milk. I just bought a carton of almond milk and I realized it only has 1 measly gram of protein. Oh well, it tastes awesome!

Hope you have an awesome day tomorrow :D

  6. That’s interesting to know about the hydrolyzed vegetable protein. I think soy protein is the main compound that fuels my soy sensitivity, but maybe HVP wouldn’t make it act up? Happy Friday!

Don’t feel like a wuss pumpin’ the heavy weights. Anyone can bust out lots of reps with 5 lbers. I like to do the 15,12,12, and then 6 method. If you can lift more than 6 it’s not heavy enough ;) Watch the muscles grow! Not too much though. Look at me…i’m still little but I do have muscle!

I sometimes love those rainy days, where you can incorporate more comfort meals! Fall and winter here are perfect for curling up with soups or crockpot meals, getting excited just talking about it!

  10. Will look out for that brand- all of the “just peanuts” brands I’ve tried take serious arm-work stirring.

I need to shake up my foods too…it’s too cold for my summer staples! My salads right now are a mix of hot and cold- ie, cold lettuce topped with warm roasted vegetables :)

  14. I’m quite the fashionista, so I tend to spend a LOT of time picking out my outfit the night before. But in the summer, I’m SUCH a “wear whatever calls out to me” type of person. :)

LOVE that dinner girl! So delicious and healthy!!!
